JDE Engineering Services is a specialist data centre commissioning consultancy working with some of the most respected operators and contractors in the industry including Equinix, Google, CyrusOne, Vantage and Virtus.
We are growing our team and looking for experienced Commissioning Engineers to support the delivery of complex data centre programmes across the UK and Europe. You’ll work as part of a close-knit expert team, taking ownership of commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through to integrated systems testing and formal handover certification.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in technical rigour, works well under programme pressure, and understands that getting commissioning right is what separates a facility that performs from one that doesn’t.
Responsibilities
Carry out pre-functional and functional testing of mechanical and electrical systems in data centre environments
Support the development and execution of Integrated Systems Testing (IST) programmes
Identify, log and track commissioning defects through to close-out
Review and comment on commissioning documentation, test scripts and O&M manuals
Work within Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) frameworks and contribute to site safety compliance
Liaise with contractors, designers and client representatives throughout the commissioning process
Produce clear, accurate commissioning reports and evidence packages
Qualifications
Proven experience in data centre commissioning (mechanical, electrical or both)
Understanding of critical systems including UPS, generators, cooling, HV/LV switchgear, and BMS
Familiarity with SSOW, permit-to-work systems and safe isolation procedures
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications
Strong written communication – able to produce clear technical documentation
Comfortable working on active construction and part-live sites
Bonus Qualifications
Experience as a Commissioning Agent (CxA) or in a commissioning management role is a strong advantage. Any of the following would also be welcome: 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations, HV Authorised Person status, SMSTS or SSSTS, PASMA/IPAF, or relevant engineering degree/HNC.
